As explained on this page, “La Città dell’Utopia” is a local project of SCI Italia. The SCI Italia headquarters is also located in the farmhouse, where numerous SCI-related activities take place. SCI Italia is an NGO recognized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a consultative member of UNESCO and the Council of Europe. It is a secular volunteer movement present in 43 countries around the world. For 90 years, it has been promoting volunteer activities and camps focused on peace and disarmament, conscientious objection, human rights and international solidarity, sustainable lifestyles, social inclusion, and active citizenship. At its core is a concrete commitment to changing situations of inequality, injustice, degradation, and human rights violations. The philosophy behind SCI’s activities has always been characterized by a focus on practical action.

Laboratorio 53 was founded in 2008, drawing on the experience of “Medics Against Torture,” within which our activities first began before eventually taking on an autonomous and independent form. It is a group composed of philosophers, anthropologists, psychologists, social workers, legal professionals, attorneys, and cultural mediators who, from a multidisciplinary perspective, offer assistance and support to migrants, applicants for international protection, and minors. The association is secular and nonpartisan.

The association Eduraduno began in the classrooms of Roma Tre University in 2007, when a group of young people envisioned an event centered on the concept of “being an educator,” featuring a valley of colorful tents and many people ready to share a common vision of education by immersing themselves in practical experience.. Based on this dream, the first gathering was held that same year; it was warmly received by many participants and organizations in the sector and has been held every summer since. In 2009, Eduraduno decided to formally establish itself as a cultural association, renewing its commitment and expanding it to include other activities: today, it develops and implements educational projects for children and adults and creates opportunities for educators to gain visibility through literary contests, publications, and events.

Ever since 2019 we participate in the European movement of Repair Café to support the right to repair, by providing a space for the group of volunteers and repairers at the Repair Café in Rome’s San Paolo neighborhood and by promoting a monthly event offering free minor repairs (small appliances, electronics, bicycles) on the third Saturday of every month, on market day t/T. You can find more information about how they operate here.

From 2006 onwards, we support the terra/TERRA collectiveOrganizing activities related to the Farmer's Market which takes place every third saturday of the month right here in La Città dell’Utopia. The terra/TERRA association is an experiment in an economic model that brings producers and consumers together to disrupt distribution chains, reduce food miles, and foster social, sensory, and gustatory connections.

We are an active part of the social network of municipio VIII since 2009, which brings together individuals and groups committed to defending anti-fascism, social rights, and the local community. Every year, for example, the network comes together to organize events such as the anti-racist carnival or the Acrobax ReNoize festival.

La Città dell'Utopia has always supported, without any ifs or buts, the fight against the doubling of the Turin-Lyon railway line. In Rome, we support the network which constructs concrete solidarity with the movement "No TAV".

In 2018 in Rome the network "Restiamo Umani"is born with the goal of fighting against the closure of ports to ships conducting sea rescues. Since then, the network—which has always been supported by La Città dell’Utopia—has carried out various mobilizations and actions at the city level to demand humane reception policies that respect people’s lives.
